きわめる【極める･窮める･究める】

1 【極める･窮める】 〔最終地点に行き着く〕 reach the end 《of…》; 〔極限に達する〕 carry sth to extremity; go to extremes; be extremely 《cruel》; be 《cruel》 in the extreme.

●山頂をきわめる reach the summit of a mountain

・頂点をきわめる reach the summit [top] 《of one's profession》

・暴虐をきわめる act with extreme violence; be tyrannical in the extreme
